Protecting Your Pet’s Oral (and Overall) Health

Dental disease can occur when bacteria, plaque, and tartar build up on teeth and below the gumline. If left untreated, this can result in bad breath, inflammation of the gums, infection, oral pain, and diseased teeth (even tooth loss). Bacteria that have built up in the mouth and gums can also be absorbed into the bloodstream and seriously impact major organs in the body, especially the heart. That’s why it’s important to include dental care in your pet’s health routine.

At your pet’s yearly preventive care exam, our veterinarians will perform a routine dental evaluation, which can help us detect and monitor dental disease as it progresses. They may recommend professional dental cleaning at-home management such as oral care products, tooth brushing, or a specialized diet to help reduce tartar on the teeth.

Our comprehensive preventative and therapeutic dental services include periodontal treatments, dental cleaning (prophylaxis), dental radiographs, extractions, and some tooth restoration.
